Fancy or Fail Friday is upon us again and since I’m in such a fabulous mood I couldn’t help but yet again share a huge FANCY!!!
If it was any surprise when I announced that I would be talking about the new Lancome highlighters that today’s post would be a fancy then I’m not sure what to tell you. That being said, sit tight, grab a snack and let me tell you about one of the beauty world’s newest highlighters.
Say hello to the Lancome Dual Finish Multi Tasking Illuminating Highlighter. That’s fancy talk for highlighter. There are 5 shades, 19 grams of product and cost a whopping $55.00 (Canadian). I bought the lightest shade (shocking I know) in Shimmering Buff. This is a beautiful champagne highlight with a gorgeous sheen and has a very subtle, not chunky shower of glitter throughout. Don’t be scared off by the glitter, it is an extremely small amount and doesn’t enhance texture or make your pores look huge. It strikes that perfect balance that only the greatest of highlight’s can achieve.
The packaging is a very classic sleek Lancome compact with a gold clasp adorned with the Lancome name across it. It comes with a nice big mirror inside so this is something that you can take travelling and not have to worry if you want to apply it on the go.
The texture is unbelievably creamy and so buttery soft. My favorite type of highlight by far. It melts into the skin and gives you the perfect highlight, only visible when the sun hits your cheek right in that perfect spot. It doesn’t look like a weird stripe of color down the side of your face that people may question your reasoning for putting it there.
Usually when talking about different types of highlights they fall into the subtle or mind numbing bright categories. Well amazingly the Lancome formula is able to play on both teams depending on your method of application. It was made as a wet-dry formula and is subtle, perfect for the every day when applied dry but if you want to amp that glow up you just use it wet and you enter the blinding highlight realm of the beauty world. Sephora’s website says it best ” Its wet-dry technology allows for customized highlight and the ultimate versatility: use it dry for a subtle glow, or apply damp for a more intense result. The formula is infused with light-enhancing pearls to achieve that beautiful pearly glow. It’s also infused with vitamin E and triglycerides for a non-drying formula that wears comfortably all day long. The lightweight texture applies smoothly and evenly for a second-skin feel, whether using a brush, sponge, or your fingers. Just wear it dry for a subtle highlight, or apply damp for more intense illumination.”
My favorite way to use the highlight wet is with a Morphe M510 brush and the Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Water. I coat the brush with the powder then spray it with one or two squirts of the primer water. I will say that I prefer to use the highlight dry with the Anastasia A23 Brush. I am much more of a “no makeup makeup” type of girl and love the subtle glow it gives me.
As I said above there are 5 shades of this formula so there is literally a shade for everyone, every skin tone. So don’t be worried, there is a shade for you.
That brings us to the end of this week’s Fancy or Fail my friends. I hope you found this helpful … and maybe a wee bit enabling to add this beautiful product to your collection. Until next time my loves, may the force be with you and I will talk to you soon.
Love Always, Jillian
